Spiced Prawn Skewers

An absolute crowd pleaser, this will have your friends and family asking for more!


Serves: 4 as a side dish.

Prep. Time: 30 minutes – 1 hour (to marinate)

Cook Time: 10 minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • 500g prawns (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon or lime
  • 1 teaspoon Lord & Lion chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Lord & Lion cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lord & Lion turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Lord & Lion Ceylon cinnamon powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)

 

Method:

 

  1. Make the Marinade: In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon/lime juice, the spices and a pinch of salt. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.

 

  1. Marinate the Prawns: Add the prawns to the marinade and toss until well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 1 hour for more flavour).

 

  1. Prepare Skewers: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning. Thread the marinated prawns onto the skewers.

 

  1. Cook: Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the skewers for 2-3 minutes per side, until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through. You can also cook them in the oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 8-10 minutes, turning halfway.

 

  1. Serve: Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon or lime on a bed of coconut rice, salad, or with your favourite sides.

 

Tips:

  • Feel free to adjust the spice quantities to suit your heat preference.
  • Adding a pinch of our Ceylon Cinnamon gives a warm, aromatic touch that pairs beautifully with the prawns.
